I'm really happy with the way this shawl turned out. It was very easy and didn't take very long to knit, and it's huge and warm and fun to wear.
I knit the pattern as written, making no changes. I had six or seven false starts at the beginning, experimenting with cast ons and selvedges, only to come to the conclusion that a crocheted cast on and no special selvedge was the way to go. You know, the way I did it the first time.
All the ends were spit-spliced, a first for me since, I think, Banff! They look fine in the finished piece -- I couldn't tell you where any of the joins are. And that's a good thing, because I think every goddamn ball of Wool of the Andes had a knot.
After finishing the shawl, I only lightly blocked it -- wires through the edges, only a little stretching. After blocking, the edges look great, the lace looks smooth, and the dimensions are perfect.
Yeah, I'm happy with this project.
