Updates
Knitting updates:
- The Maidenhair Shawl is just over half done. I’m considering an experiment to see if I can successfully complete it in my sleep, because a) I memorized the charts a few repeats ago, and b) I’m goddamn sick of knitting it.
- The Oak Ribbed Socks are done, but they haven’t been washed yet and I’ve been wearing them around the house, so you’ll have to wait for pictures and story. I came to a fitting revelation!
- I decided I wanted to learn how to knit mittens, although few things are less useful during a Texas summer. Such are the whimsies of the unemployed. See the Classic Mittens, a children’s pair (and perhaps not the best choice for a beginner, as Marcia Lewandowski’s Folk Mittens uses a, uh, unique charting method). I followed them up with the Salt and Pepper Mittens from Robin Hanssen’s Favorite Mittens, a far superior book. (Don’t ask why I already had a collection of mitten pattern books; call it a dedication to looking at pictures of colorwork.)
Spinning updates:
- I’m almost done combing the Coopworth!
- I bought a small Jacob fleece on eBay, and it’s marinating in the washing machine as I write.
