Just this weekend, during a routine phone call to my mother in Oregon, I was lamenting Texas’ lack of fiber festivals. There’s Kid n’ Ewe in Boerne every fall, but it’s small, and there aren’t many classes. In contrast, there seems to be a cool fiber event in the Willamette Valley about once a month.
Yesterday, I learned that things might be changing. The DFW Fiber Fest is scheduled for the end of April, and it has an extensive class schedule — including three workshops with Beth Brown-Reinsel. She’ll do a day on ganseys, a day on twined knitting, and a day on top-down Aran cardigans. Suzanne Correira has a class on spinning mohair, and I’d like to take that one as well.
D. says he’ll drive me up, so I’ll mail a registration form this week. I’m looking forward to it.
